Three Reasons Why Your Social Media Isn't Working

by Steph Rady

In the bustling world of social media, success isn't just about posting content; it's about fostering engagement, maintaining consistency, and implementing a strategic approach. Whether you're a seasoned marketer or just starting your journey, our blog is here to equip you with the tools and insights you need to thrive in the digital landscape.

Why isn’t my social media working?

1. No Followers

Everyone has to start somewhere! It's all well and good to post on social media, but if you don't have many followers, there will be no one to engage with your content. Priority one should be finding ways to increase your following across all platforms. However, if time is an issue, we recommend focusing on Facebook and Instagram as these platforms seem to yield the most fruitful results for agents.

How do I get more followers?

  • Post engaging content that leaves users wanting more.
  • Utilise free features such as reels and stories to broaden your content's reach.
  • Use paid ads to boost engagement on your posts.
  • Employ paid ads to drive people to follow your page.
  • Share personal content that people can relate to.
  • Highlight your charity and community work.
  • Increase impressions with video content.

2. No Consistency

Consistency is key in social media marketing. Be sure to post consistently and at regular intervals to ensure your content receives optimal impressions. Over-posting can be detrimental to marketing campaigns, especially on Facebook where your posts may reach only a smaller percentage of your followers, and there's also a risk of your page being marked as spam. It's important to find the right balance and adhere to best practices.

How do I know when to post?

Start with one post per day; if that's too much, aim for a minimum of three times per week.

Utilise analytics/scheduling tools like Hootsuite to pre-schedule your content and determine the best times and days to post based on your followers' activity.

3. No Strategy

Posting to social media without a long-term strategy won't yield results or a return on investment. To maximise social media marketing, your strategy needs to encompass four elements: Grow your followers, Engage your audience, Convert leads, and Nurture data.

How do I adopt a strategy like this?

  • Grow your followers: Align all your social media activity with this goal; develop both paid and organic strategies to grow your followers.
  • Engage your audience: Always prioritise value in your marketing. Tailor your social strategy to answer what your target audience finds most valuable at the moment. Engage them with content such as blogs, videos, tips and tricks, life hacks, and community-focused topics.
  • Convert leads: Once your content strategy is in place, focus on generating leads. Offer valuable content in exchange for contact information, like an instant online valuation tool, downloadable guides, or checklists.
  • Nurture data: After generating leads, nurture them with more valuable and engaging content until they're ready to work with you. Use email, SMS, social media, and retargeting ads to stay top-of-mind.
